North Marin and Southern Sonoma Communities We Serve
Novato sits at the hinge between Marin and Sonoma counties, and the towns around it could hardly be more varied. To the south, Marinwood and Lucas Valley are full of 1950s and 1960s Eichlers and ranch homes, where the Lucas Valley chimney issues center on low-slope roofs and flashing leaks. East toward San Pablo Bay, Bel Marin Keys lagoon homes deal with salt air and wind, while the rural lots of Black Point-Green Point rely on wood stoves and ember-safe caps.
West of town, Nicasio is ranch country with farmhouse chimneys and stoves that do the real heating. North on Highway 101, Petaluma mixes Victorian brick chimneys with postwar prefab fireplaces, and the Sonoma County towns of Penngrove and Cotati add farmhouses, country lots and a cooler, foggier climate. All of them fall under Bay Area Spare the Air rules, and each page below explains what we see most often in that community.
